FREE SUBJECTS REGULATION
General Regulation
The enrollment for free subjects will only be made through the website www.sbn.com.br/cbn aiming to better organize their analysis. Norms for submission of papers are mentioned below.
Papers have to be written in Portuguese Language. For foreign participants papers will be accepted in English.
Allowed to enroll are neurosurgery professionals and those of related fields.

I.1. Only papers will be accepted whose main author and lecturer are duly enrolled in the congress.
I.2. The SUMMARIES shall be typed using WORD for WINDOWS program (all versions allowed) Arial font, body 12, space 1.5, justified text, with a maximum of 300 words, excluding title and key words.
I.3. The SUMMARIES shall -mandatorily comprise following topics- which are to be typed within the corresponding field: Title, Introduction/Goals, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions, key-words (three altogether, using Index Medicus descriptors).
I.4. Following free papers types will be accepted for presentation:
I.4.1. Mini-conferences: Oral eight minutes presentations with two minutes for comments or discussion.
I.4.2. Conventional posters
I.4.3. Videos: will be accepted to demonstrate surgical techniques in anatomic specimens or patients. The selected video presentations will have the length of 8 minutes, followed by 2 minutes for discussion. The selected video presentations shall be presented by the senior author.
Videos shall be sent to selection on the enrollment.
I.4.4. Videos-Posters: The formal presentation of a scientific paper includes (Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion/Conclusions) in slides (Power-Point) or surgical techniques in anatomic specimens or on patients (videos), with 10 minutes narration time.
Video-posters will be presented in sequence according to program which will be elaborated and broadcasted previously through display units which will be distributed in the Exposition area.
Video-posters shall be sent to selection at the enrollment.
I.5. Papers sent shall already be concluded at the time of their dispatch, whereby expressions such as “Casuistry will be analyzed and results will be commented” are not allowed.
I.6. It is rigorously forbidden to mention -directly or indirectly - the names of authors or that of the institution in which the paper was performed- within the summary at risk of not being accepted for assessment.
I.7. Papers will be assessed by a Scientific Committee composed of several members. The raters will only have access to the file containing the titles and summary of the paper, without knowing their authors and institution where it was realized. The 112 papers which achieve the best averages will be accepted for the Mini-conference, 250 for Conventional Posters, 36 for Video sessions and 45 for Video-Posters.
I.8. The Scientific Commission of the Congress will advise the main author by e-mail on which format the paper was selected, making it available on the website www.sbn.com.br/cbn.
I.9. Papers shall be sent electronically, by filling out the forms available on the website of the XXVII Brazilian Congress of Neurosurgery at latest until May 30, 2008, at 24h00. No Summary will be accepted after that date.
I.10. Any commercial linkage of the papers shall be referred to through filling out the existent field on the available form.
